Welcome to Counselling with Diane

Your Journey, Your Pace

Life can be challenging at times, and, in those moments, we can benefit from pausing to care for ourselves.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by life experiences and challenges or at a crossroad in your life?

Maybe you feel low or anxious or you’re struggling to cope with loss, grief, stress, a relationship breakdown, divorce, or childhood trauma that’s effecting your life now. Perhaps you're living with illness, a health condition or depression or just need someone to listen and support you.

Whatever’s brought you here, I aim to provide a welcoming, caring, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can freely and openly express and explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we work at your pace to find the root of your challenges which may be by exploring where you are now, your life experiences, repeating patterns, self-beliefs, and anything that’s holding you back. I believe that you are your own expert, and, in our sessions together, I will always encourage you to reflect and find your own answers.

As a person-centred therapist, I work in a way that focuses on each client's individual and unique needs, expectations, history, beliefs, and personal experiences. Every person has within them the potential to grow, change, and achieve their goals and my role is to support and empower you on that journey.

I work with a range of issues, such as: anxiety, depression, low mood, relationship problems and breakdowns, separations and divorce, infidelity, family conflicts and estrangement, childhood trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, bereavement, grief and loss, addiction, stress, and menopause.

I also work with people who have had or been touched by near-death experiences (NDEs), particularly those caused by illness, health emergencies and medical interventions.

I offer one-to-one counselling sessions for adults which can be brief, short-term, and long-term as well as open-ended psychotherapy.

Sessions are held online or in-person in Woodhall Spa, near Lincoln. A one hour session is £65.

My approach to Counselling

I'm dedicated to empowering adults on the path to recovery from the profound impact of many difficult life issues, which can sometimes be painful and complex. If you've found yourself here, you may be grappling with frequent anxiety, depression, difficult emotions, or challenges in your relationships.

Traumatic events at any stage of life can impact your identity, self-worth and self-esteem and leave you feeling stuck in the past. My priority as your therapist is to establish a supportive environment where you can freely share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

I work to create a non-judgmental and accepting atmosphere where you can be yourself and explore your inner world, so that you can create a more satisfying life.

We work collaboratively to identify explore the challenges and obstacles which are preventing you from achieving your goals and aspirations, whatever they may be.

My clients are the experts in and of their own lives, and I work to empower them to find their own answers and make their own choices based on their own unique needs and values.

Person-centred therapy

Person-centred therapy focuses on finding your own answers and solutions with the right amount of support from me as your therapist. Person-centred therapy - which is sometimes called client-centred therapy - is rooted in the belief that every individual has untapped potential and contains all the answers from within to thrive.

As your therapist, I empower you to find the answers in your own time and at your own pace.

As this is a non-directive approach, you decide what we talk about, and you lead me during each online therapy session.

Together, we establish and build a relationship that’s based on trust in a supportive space.

Person-centred therapy requires me to focus on your individual needs, and during our online counselling sessions, I actively listen to you and understand how the world works from your point of view.

This may help you increase self-awareness, enhance your self-esteem and self-confidence, find clarity in your life and experience emotional growth.

Frequently asked questions

How do online sessions work?

Online counselling and psychotherapy is a highly effective way to have therapy. We agree a day and a time to meet; then I’ll send you a link to log in to our sessions together. Before our session starts, find a comfortable, quiet space where you can be alone without any interruptions or distractions. To book an online session, email diane@counsellingwithdiane.co.uk.

Can I have someone with me during our online session?

I appreciate that starting online counselling can feel daunting at first and you may feel nervous, but you must be on your own during our sessions with nobody else there. That way, we build up a therapeutic relationship based on trust in a safe and confidential space where you will be able to talk openly and freely.

How often should I attend counselling sessions?

This is always your choice, and we work together to find a frequency and duration of online counselling sessions that’s right for you. I offer brief, short-term, long-term, and open-ended online counselling and psychotherapy. Most sessions start weekly to build momentum, enabling you to make gradual and steady progress towards your goals, but we can work in other ways such as fortnightly or monthly online sessions. Some clients book in with me as and when they feel they need support or to maintain their emotional wellbeing.

Do I need a referral from my GP to book an appointment?

No. You are free to access online counselling with me yourself whenever you feel you need extra support. Please get in touch with me directly. To book an appointment, email diane@counsellingwithdiane.co.uk.

How do I know if I need counselling?

Everyone deserves support, especially when life becomes challenging, difficult, or overwhelming. If you feel you're struggling, can no longer cope or want to find a way to move forward, you may need to ask for help. Online counselling is a gentle confidential process where we work collaboratively at a comfortable pace for you.

How will I feel after my therapy sessions?

It is common and natural to feel a range of emotions during counselling sessions, and these may continue or change after your sessions finish. You may feel relieved to talk openly and feel heard or understood. Sometimes, you may feel upset if a session has brought up painful or difficult memories. Everyone’s experience is different, and I am here to support you.

What issues do you deal with?

I work with a range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, low mood, relationship problems and breakdowns, separations and divorce, infidelity, family conflict and estrangement, childhood trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, grief and loss, addiction, stress, and menopause. I also work with people who have had or been touched by near-death experiences (NDEs), particularly those caused by illness, health emergencies and medical interventions.

What hours do you work?

I offer counselling sessions Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm and some Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.

Initial Consultation Process & Fees

During our initial online counselling session, you can share with me what has brought you to therapy, and we will take a deeper dive into your issues and expectations. I will talk you through the counselling process and how I work.

We’ll also explore your expectations of therapy and what you want to achieve. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions or chat about concerns that you might have about online counselling. If you feel comfortable working with me, we can then schedule further online sessions.

I offer one-to-one online counselling sessions for adults which can be brief, short-term, and long-term as well as open-ended psychotherapy.
